Quinn Evans, a leading national design firm, has promoted Katie Irwin, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP BD+C, to principal.

Since first joining Quinn Evans in 1999 as a summer intern, Katie has contributed her expertise in architecture, historic preservation, and interior design to the renewal of landmark buildings in Washington, DC, and beyond. Her portfolio includes major renovations of the National Academy of Sciences, DAR Constitution Hall, and Richmond’s Old City Hall, as well as historically significant buildings serving the diplomatic missions of Australia, Belgium, Ecuador, France, and Japan. In addition to built work, Katie has helped author historic structure reports to guide the stewardship of culturally important places from DC landmarks like St. John’s Church and the Heurich House Museum to a 19th-century hôtel particulier in Paris, France.

Katie holds a Master of Architecture and Certificate in Historic Preservation (2001), Bachelor of Science in Architecture (1999), and Bachelor of Arts in Art History (1999) from the University of Maryland. She is a licensed architect, NCIDQ-certified interior designer, and LEED Accredited Professional (Building Design + Construction). Katie is a member of the American Institute of Architects, Association for Preservation Technology, International Interior Design Association, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Society of Architectural Historians, and Victorian Society of America.
