The restoration of William Fox Elementary School reached a major milestone as the Richmond community gathered to celebrate the installation of the new cupola.

William Fox Elementary School has served Richmond Public Schools students since it opened in 1911. After more than a century of service, a devastating fire in 2022 destroyed much of the school’s roof and upper level, which included the iconic cupola. Three years later, the iconic structure has been restored and placed back on top of the historic building.

We can’t escape the symbolism today. It’s a crowning moment here for Richmond Public Schools.

With the cupola replaced, the transformation is nearly complete. Quinn Evans is leading the restoration of the school, and the building is set to open in fall 2025.
