The City of Detroit’s Historic District Commission, part of its Planning & Development Department, highlighted four Quinn Evans projects as guiding examples in a feature on the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. In the piece, Director of Planning and Development Antoine Bryant highlights a collection of city buildings that have undergone transformations that blend historic preservation with modern design.
Four of the six featured projects are Quinn Evans’ work, including the iconic Michigan Central Station, the Checker Cab building, Element Detroit at the Metropolitan, and the Siren Hotel. Each project showcase show adaptive reuse can create unique, modern spaces while preserving Detroit’s architectural history.
