The Cody Rouge & Warrendale YOUTH-CENTRIC Neighborhood Framework Plan, with Quinn Evans’ Principal Saundra Little, FAIA, LEED AP, NOMA and Director of Diversity and Inclusion as Community Engagement Specialist, has been honored with the American Planning Association's 2023 National Planning Award for Planning Excellence.

The annual awards are highly significant as they recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements in urban and regional planning, serving as a prestigious platform to showcase innovative approaches that improve communities and influence policy discussions. They inspire and promote excellence in the field, driving positive change and raising public awareness about the importance of responsible planning practices.

The Cody Rouge & Warrendale YOUTH-CENTRIC Neighborhood Framework Plan is a plan of action designed to guide growth and investment in the neighborhood. Quinn Evans’ team collaborated with the City of Detroit, neighborhood organizations, residents, and various stakeholders to create a "ground-up" approach to community planning. The project was led by HECTOR urban design. Project partners included Hinge Collective; Marc Norman; Michael Marshall Design; Tiny WPA; The Work Department; University of Orange Cody Rouge & Warrendale Organizational Steering Committee and Youth Council; with clients City of Detroit Planning& Development Department and Cody Rouge Initiative.

This framework is laser-focused on improving the quality of life for residents, children, and their families. Public discussions, youth programs, and community events played a pivotal role in identifying actionable projects to enhance streets, housing, businesses, parks, and community spaces.
