The Buffalo Central Terminal reaches a significant milestone as it launches Phase 2 of its revitalization, led by Quinn Evans as the prime architect.
With $33 million in funding from the Regional Revitalization Partnership, this phase will address critical safety and stabilization needs, restore safe access to the Passenger Concourse, and open up the Plaza and Lawn, enabling Central Terminal Restoration Corp. to advance its adaptive reuse plans.
Quinn Evans is honored to play a central role in preserving the terminal’s historic character while preparing it for modern functionality. Construction is expected to take approximately two years, resulting in a space ready for community gatherings, events, and other activities.
We are revitalizing the historic landmark one phase at a time—carving out a future for the one-of-a-kind architectural anchor. When the project is complete it will be a celebratory story of success, economic growth and new beginnings—but most importantly, it will always be about the vital importance of this proud Buffalo community.

These efforts are bringing the terminal one step closer to being a safe, functional, and vibrant public space, ready to welcome the community and celebrate its rich history.
Exterior work includes stabilizing the building’s façade, securing the masonry on the upper tower floors, and ensuring the structure is weatherproofed to prevent further damage. Inside, our team is rehabilitating the Main Terminal Building by stabilizing Guastavino tiles, restoring floors and marble wainscoting, upgrading safety systems, and addressing roof and masonry repairs.
These early steps in the restoration effort aim to reestablish the terminal as a place of civic pride and a place where people come together…Early twentieth-century train stations have always served as gateways to our cities, and we look forward to the day when we can open the doors to the City of Buffalo once again.
