Chesterfield Career and Technical Center at Hull
We repurposed a shuttered high school to serve as a hub for vocational education, district administration, and conferences. Supporting the Career and Technical Education program’s mission to graduate “workplace-ready” students, the bright, modern interior immerses high school juniors and seniors in a professional environment with breakout spaces and collaboration hubs in addition to classrooms.
By co-locating three school district functions in one facility, the Hull campus creates a collaborative environment that encourages connections and relationships between departments. For example, the conference center provides the culinary arts program’s students with real-world experience in planning and operating large events.
Our students thrive on the practical experience they learn in our building, the networking that connects them to our community partners, and the career readiness skills they learn as young adults.
Career and Technical Education
The Hull campus is the county’s second career and technical education center. Specialty spaces allowed the system to expand existing programs and offer new ones. The Center supports 38 programs including biotechnology, culinary arts, firefighting, mechatronics, nursing, and veterinary science.
District Administration
The openness of the administrative spaces blurs the boundaries between formal and informal working environments, increasing opportunities for interaction and collaboration. A dedicated entrance separates the district administration workspace from the educational spaces.
Conference Center
We converted the former school gymnasium into the Thomas R. Fulghum Conference Center. A pre-function area accesses a partitionable conference space that can accommodate up to 1,000 attendees as well as an auditorium shared with the school program.
